Terrain Generation

Astraeus DBGS uses a modified Delaunay Triangulation. The triangulation incorporates the significant elevation points from a elevation model (DEM) and terrain modifiers to give you a realistic terrain skin. Terrain modifiers include the road and water surfaces that are generated and any other terrain type modifier such as terrain flats, holes, contours, etc.

The terrain that we create do not have T-intersections. This ensures there is no gaps or overlaps. Also this lends itself to be easily converted into different coordinate systems for different real time solutions.
